The Installation Process
For high-usage Border Force and commercial kennel projects, we use a proven groundworks system designed to maximise performance under intensive conditions.
The process began with a solid free-draining base:
- A layer of 20mm clean limestone was installed first
- This was topped with a compacted 6mm clean limestone layer to create a smooth, stable surface
A proflow grid system was then fitted over the base. The grid is made up of interlocking 1×1 metre panels installed in a jigsaw method. This elevates the turf, accelerates drainage, and significantly improves ease of cleaning, essential in compounds that see constant use by working dogs.
Once the grid was in place, K9 Turf® Premier was laid directly on top. The turf was secured using galvanized nails for maximum durability, with all joins fixed using specialist tape and adhesive. Edges were carefully bevelled and bolster-nipped to create a clean, seamless transition against the surrounding concrete slabs.
