K9 Turf Premier Artificial Grass Installation – York
Fake Grass For Dogs in York
We recently completed a K9 Turf® Premier installation in York, delivering a high-quality fake grass for dogs solution designed specifically for pet owners.
Project Overview
The homeowners wanted a clean, durable and low-maintenance outdoor space that could cope with regular use by their dogs while still looking natural and well-finished. Natural grass had become muddy, worn and difficult to maintain, particularly during wetter periods.
K9 Turf® Premier was selected as the ideal fake grass for dogs due to its realistic appearance, excellent drainage performance and suitability for everyday pet use.
Key Features of This Installation:
- Premium Product: K9 Turf® Premier – a high-performance, knitted artificial grass specifically designed for pet owners and working dogs.
- Advanced Drainage: Knitted Rapid Flow Backing delivering 800% improved drainage capacity compared to standard turf. Water disappears quickly, even after heavy rain.
- Base Preparation: A solid, free-draining foundation using crushed limestone and grano for maximum stability and longevity.
- Professional Installation: Full groundworks, including excavation, precise fitting around existing structures and borders.
- Warranty: Backed by a 15-year UV stability warranty.
Why K9 Turf Premier Works for Dogs
A key advantage of the K9 Turf® Premier system is its suitability for pet environments. The surface is designed to allow urine and rainwater to drain efficiently, helping to keep the area cleaner and easier to maintain.
Unlike natural grass, it does not become muddy, worn or patchy from repeated dog use. Unlike standard latex-backed artificial grass, it does not trap liquids in the backing, which is the main cause of lingering ammonia odours. This makes it a far more practical and hygienic option for dog owners looking for reliable fake grass for dogs.
Key benefits include:
- Excellent drainage for both rainwater and pet urine
- Soft, realistic feel with strong durability
- No muddy paws or bare patches
- Easy to clean and low maintenance
- Suitable for year-round use
Project Result
The finished installation provides a clean, usable outdoor space that the family can enjoy throughout the year, regardless of the weather. It removes many of the common problems associated with natural lawns, including muddy paws, worn patches and constant mowing.
K9 Turf® Premier offers the ideal combination of appearance, durability, drainage and practicality, giving dog owners in York a premium fake grass for dogs solution that is built to cope with everyday life while maintaining a clean and professional finish.

The Installation Process
The installation began with careful preparation of the existing area to create a stable and long-lasting foundation. The ground was excavated and prepared before the appropriate sub-base was installed and compacted. This provided a solid, level surface while supporting effective drainage and helping to prevent movement or uneven areas over time.
A SuDS-compliant base was then installed, starting with a layer of 20mm limestone that was compacted, followed by a compacted layer of 6mm clean limestone. This dual-layer system creates a free-draining foundation that works in harmony with the turf.
Once the base preparation was complete, the K9 Turf® Premier was accurately measured, cut and fitted to the area. Careful attention was given to the edges, joins and overall finish to ensure a neat, professional appearance. The turf was secured properly to deliver a surface that looks realistic while remaining tough enough to withstand regular use from active dogs.
Advanced Drainage Technology That Truly Sets Us Apart
Most standard artificial grass uses basic punched holes that quickly become clogged. This causes dog urine to pool, bacteria to multiply, and unpleasant odours to develop within weeks.
K9 Turf Premier features our exclusive Knitted RapidFlow Backing — an advanced drainage system that mimics natural soil permeability. Liquids pass straight through in seconds. Independent lab testing shows drainage rates up to 800% faster than conventional backings.
The result? No puddles, no lingering smells, and no muddy paw prints tracked indoors.
