K9 Turf Premier Installation at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

That’s exactly what we delivered with our latest project at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where our team installed a large outdoor area using our K9 Premier woven-backed artificial grass system.
Creating a Durable Outdoor Space for Dogs
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home provides care and support for animals every day, so its outdoor spaces need to be able to cope with a high level of use.
The project involved transforming a large outdoor area into a clean, practical and hard-wearing space for the dogs to enjoy. With dogs running, playing and exploring the area on a regular basis, the installation needed a strong foundation and a turf system capable of handling significant foot and paw traffic.
For this reason, K9 Premier was the ideal choice.
Professional Ground Preparation
A successful artificial grass installation starts beneath the surface.
Before the K9 Premier grass could be installed, our team carried out extensive ground preparation to create a stable and well-draining foundation.
Subbase Construction
The installation included a carefully specified stone build-up to give the area strength and drainage.
20mm Limestone Layer
The first layer was a 20mm limestone course, used to form the main structural base.
6mm Clean Limestone Subbase
This was followed by a carefully compacted 6mm clean limestone subbase. This provided a solid, stable platform for the artificial grass while helping to create the necessary structure beneath the finished surface.
Proper compaction of the subbase is particularly important in high-use canine areas. It helps minimise movement and ensures the finished installation remains stable and functional over time.
K9 Premier Woven-Backed Artificial Grass
Once the ground preparation was complete, the final surface was installed using K9Turf’s Premier woven-backed artificial grass.
Strength and Stability
The woven backing provides the strength and stability required for a demanding environment such as Battersea, while the grass itself delivers a natural-looking finish that is comfortable for dogs to use.
A Consistent Surface Year-Round
The result is a large, consistent outdoor surface that looks like grass without many of the problems associated with heavily used natural lawns.
Natural grass can quickly become worn, muddy and uneven when exposed to constant canine activity. The K9 Premier system provides a much more consistent surface, helping the area remain usable and presentable throughout the year.
